The VCU Broad Street Mile combines a street festival with a 5K Run and series of one-mile fun runs on the city’s major thoroughfare, Broad Street. In addition to providing a fun, festive event, the VCU Broad Street Mile provides a turnkey fundraising opportunity for local community organizations. We are excited to introduce the VCU 5K which is a new addition for 2014!
Broad Street will be transformed into two areas, a running course and festival. The running course will feature the VCU 5K to kick-off the event, and five themed one-mile races that start at 20 minute intervals. The FREE festival will feature live music, food trucks, local vendors, kids activities and a new RVA Sports Zone featuring the Richmond Flying Squirrels and other local professional sports teams. People are encouraged to come enjoy the festival even if you are not participating in one of the run/walks.
VCU Run Lab Seminars
The VCU Run Lab is comprised of sport biomechanists, exercise physiologists and coaches dedicated to helping athletes of all levels run better through science. As a part of the VCU Broad Street Mile, the VCU Run Lab will be hosting four seminars leading up to the event, each covering a different topic in regards to running, including training, nutrition, stretching and injury prevention.
